HEMOPHILIA FOUNDATION TO DEDICATE NEW BUILDING

YPSILANTI, MI, May 17, 2005/PRNewswire/ -- In February 2002, an arson fire destroyed the offices and historical records of the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan. Although much was lost, the foundation has emerged in renewed commitment to serving those with bleeding disorders. Now, just over three years since the devastating fire, HFM marks the beginning of a new era as it dedicates its new home located in Ypsilanti.

Prior to beginning construction, HFM established a Building Campaign, with the goal of raising $500,000 towards the new facility.  “Response to our building campaign has been very gratifying,” said Ivan Harner, Executive Director. “Our board members, staff and consumer constituents have come forward with strong support of this campaign which will help move HFM forward in serving the bleeding disorders community in the years ahead,” he continued. To date, the foundation has raised forty-five percent of the building campaign goal through cash donations and in-kind gifts.

On Saturday, May 21, 2005, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan will host an Open House and will dedicate its offices and new home. HFM invites its constituents and all others with an interest in the foundation’s mission to join in the celebration. The event will also provide an opportunity to gather historical information from guests in an ongoing effort to rebuild the historical records of the foundation that were lost in the 2002 fire.

The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan is located at 1921 W. Michigan Avenue, Ypsilanti. For information, or to make your reservation, please call 734-544-0015 or 800-482-3041.

HEMOPHILIA FOUNDATION TO MOVE INTO NEW BUILDING

YPSILANTI, MI, November 23, 2004/PRNewswire/ -- The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan (HFM) recently moved into its new home at 1921 West Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti Township. HFM lost its offices, furnishings and historical archives in an arson fire in February 2002. Following the fire, the foundation occupied temporary quarters while constructing a permanent home. The new facility houses the foundation’s operations and serves as a central location for the bleeding disorders community. Historical archives of the foundation will be restored and incorporated in the new building. A permanent outdoor memorial, the Butterfly Memorial Wall, honoring those who have lost their lives to hemophilia and other bleeding disorders will be a focal point at the new facility.

On December 4, 2004, the Board of Directors will meet in the new facility for the first time. “I have recently enjoyed a tour of our new building and I eagerly anticipate showing it off to our directors when the board meets on December 4,” said HFM President, Shelley Gerson. “I know that our directors will be every bit as thrilled with our new home as I am,” continued Gerson. “I recall the humble beginnings of the foundation. Our first board meetings were held at my parents’ dining room table which also served as the foundation’s first office. Now we have our very own permanent home, after those early years at our dining room table and several decades in rental facilities that we seemed always to quickly outgrow.”

Meanwhile, the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan is moving forward with its building campaign. The foundation recently announced new program opportunities in this connection. These include the sale of inscribed brick pavers for the memorial garden at the new facility as well as the sale of trees shrubbery and other landscape components. The pavers and shrubbery will complement the Butterfly Memorial Wall which will be formally dedicated as part of a grand opening celebration for the new facility which will be held in the Spring of 2005.
