House Bill 5956: Important Legislation for the Bleeding Disorders Community

On March 16, 2010, Representative Dan Scripps (D- Northport) introduced the following bill:

House Bill 5956
A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled "The social welfare act,"  (MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 109k. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
SEC.109K. MEDICAL SERVICES AND TREATMENT SHALL BE PROVIDED UNDER THIS ACT TO ELIGIBLE PATIENTS WHO ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER WHO HAVE HEREDITARY COAGULATION DEFECTS, COMMONLY KNOWN AS HEMOPHILIA.

Legislation currently reads: 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: SEC.109K. MEDICAL SERVICES AND TREATMENT MAY BE PROVIDED UNDER THIS ACT TO ELIGIBLE PATIENTS WHO ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER WHO HAVE HEREDITARY COAGULATION DEFECTS, COMMONLY KNOWN AS HEMOPHILIA.
